AIDA is a 55-minute documentary that follows a year of research and experimentation carried out by a group of young researchers from Politecnico di Milano, as they develop and test autonomous vehicle technology .

The film traces their journey through technical challenges, road testing, and landmark achievements such as completing the Mille Miglia autonomously, a hill climb, and a track speed record. Through their work, the documentary explores a concrete vision for the future of mobility—shared, electric, and driverless—capable of radically transforming our cities.

More than a story about technology, AIDA is a deeply human portrait. I chose to tell this revolution through the faces, doubts, sleepless nights, and determination of the people making it happen. The film also addresses the anxieties that often accompany artificial intelligence and automation: loss of control, of jobs, of personal agency.

In a world that’s changing at increasing speed, AIDA slows down to reflect, inviting a broader conversation about our relationship with science, technology, and the future.
